Banks County is home to a number of unique and interesting businesses that entice visitors and passersby on a daily basis. Nestled in the heartlands of northeast Georgia, Banks County has much to offer, not least of which is commerce – and today we’re going to highlight one of the mouth-watering attractions that has begun to make its mark on the area.

Jaemor Farms – Banks Crossing Market

Have you ever bitten into a peach so juicy that its nectar cascades down your chin and onto the ground? Have you ever carved into a tomato so ripe that it literally bursts open upon the first slice? Have you eaten strawberries sweet enough to pass for candy or tangy apples that are both firm and crisp to the last bite?

At Jaemor Farms’ Banks Crossing Market you will find all of the above and more – and much of it grown within walking distance by north Georgia farmers brought up on local agriculture.

Whether you’re interested in garden-fresh produce, delightful baked goods, deliciously over-stuffed deli sandwiches or homemade soups, sauces, jams, jellies and preserves or even fruit trees, you will find only the best at Jaemor’s Banks Crossing location.

Part of the family-run Jaemor Farms, which cultivates produce on farmland in Banks, Hall and Habersham counties, the Banks Crossing Market opened its doors in 2013 in order to cater to a booming community that sees more than its fair share of visitors from the Interstate 85-U.S. 441 corridor.

Geared toward serving a fast-moving community, Jaemor offers an unforgettable food experience – whether you’re looking for fruits and vegetables for your home table or a quick and tasty lunch or dinner to refuel your day. And anyone who has visited any of the Jaemor locations will be quick to tell you not only of the quality of food, but also the quality of service they have experienced.

“We are one of the few family owned and operated farm markets in North Georgia, and we take tremendous pride in not only growing the best produce that nature can provide but in also treating our numerous customers like family,” said Carli Jones, Jaemor’s Agritourism & Marketing Coordinator, who is also a proud member of the Echols family, who first took root with their local farm in 1912, growing it into one of the region’s agri-tourism gems.

In fact, Jaemor Farms’ original roadside stand in Alto, Georgia, has now grown into one of the main attractions of the region – and the establishment of their Banks Crossing market only adds another well-received option for those hungry for a taste of local quality.

As one of the few family owned and operated farm markets in north Georgia, Jaemor Farms is unique from other grocery stores in the area because a large portion of its produce is grown locally on the family’s farm, and what they don’t grow themselves they source as locally as possible.

After much research, Jaemor opted to open a second, permanent location – the farm also does pop-up markets at other locations around the region (though those have been curtailed during the COVID-19 pandemic) – at Banks Crossing precisely because of its proximity to travel thoroughfares and a fast-growing local population.

“We scouted for the perfect storefront for months before finding our current location,” Jones said. “Our Banks Crossing location is one-of-a-kind in the area. Here, we offer the same great canned goods, local and homegrown produce and homemade pies, breads and cakes that our longtime Alto location is known for.”

The feature that makes the Banks Crossing Market stand out is its top-of-the-line deli.  With a large variety of fresh meat and cheese by the pound or on sandwiches and salads, travelers and locals alike stop in for lunch or to grab dinner on-the-go.

With Jaemor, “fresh” is always the optimum word, and you can be certain that, no matter the time of year or time of day that you stop by, you will find the best local and regional produce and foods available. It is a point of pride for all involved, and it is an approach that is making a mark throughout Banks County, as customers – both local and travelers alike – make it a regular pit stop for all of their food desires.

Jaemor Farms’ Banks Crossing Market is located at 40081 U.S. Hwy. 441, Commerce, GA 30529 (between the Krispy Kreme and Wal-Mart on Highway 441, exit 149 on I-85). The store is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday.
